ABOUT THE ACADEMY
Academy Dog Training by Haywood has had its roots here in the DC area for over 40 years! The Academy has sought to transform people's understanding that even a simple walk is a potential adventure for their pup and them. We seek to teach, both canine and human how to better communicate and learn using our 3 step balanced approach to training.

Academy Dog Training by Haywood has stood by its mission to maximize the quality of life for all dogs and their families through education. To date, the Academy has brought over 3000 dogs and their families closer together through education and physical fitness keys to an extraordinary relationship! If that relationship is not healthy then another dog is sent to a shelter or worse. We are here to make sure that doesn’t happen.

MEET OUR STAFF
With 43 years of K9 experience, Haywood has seen it all in the world of dogs! From owning multiple training schools, grooming salons and retail shops, to directing a competitive Schutzhund club Haywood brings his teachings to all who are ready to learn!

From a young age Jason has learned and adopted his parents holistic approach to pet care. That attentiveness is applied in teaching his human clients the way to build better bonds with their pets. Competing in Schutzhund, Jason also brings a competition flare to his students.

Marshall
Training Manager
Marshall is a walking dog encyclopedia. Specializing in the hunting breeds of the world, Marshall brings expertise from some of the oldest purposes of dogs. Also the son of a veterinarian, Marshall is knowledgeable of the literal ins and outs of dogs.
From her first puppies Chase and Blaze to her latest addition, Salix the Border Collie. Courtney has had a love of all things puppy from the start! Alongside her Bachelors in Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology, Courtney plans to use dog training to helping us conserve and improve this beautiful land we inhabit!

Currently in college, Ronny first walked into the Academy with a specific problem he needed help with. Upon showing us the problem, he also showed us the work that he had done with his dog. The team was so impressed we offered him our first ever internship. A year later and there is no dog Ronny cannot problem solve.

Kranti's training journey started over in Chennai India. After taking on full ownership of a showline Rottweiler Kranti desperately sought the skills to train such a large dog. While on her journey to train her own pup she fell in love with training. Using her Bachelors of Psychology, Kranti approaches each dog as a puzzle to be solved!
